At Crafting Software, we’ve always believed that learning should be empowering—not prescriptive. That belief inspired us to launch something we’re incredibly excited about: the Erlang Accelerator Sessions, a new, community-driven learning initiative tailored for experienced software engineers who are curious about Erlang.
But this isn’t your typical bootcamp or online course. There are no lectures, no grades and no strict deadlines. Instead, this free 3-month program offers a unique blend of structure and autonomy, designed to support seasoned engineers as they explore Erlang at their own pace, with expert guidance available when needed. |

Why we’re doing this
We’ve been running internal Erlang guidance sessions at Crafting Software for some time now. These sessions were created for our own engineers, skilled professionals fluent in other languages but new to Erlang. What started as an experiment quickly became a valuable experience: participants found the sessions insightful, enjoyable and effective in helping them ramp up with Erlang comfortably.
Seeing this success, why keep it to ourselves?
So we’re opening the doors and inviting the broader engineering community to join us. No strings attached. Just an honest attempt to share what’s been working for us—and to help more engineers discover the beauty and power of Erlang.
How it works
The Erlang Accelerator Sessions are designed around three key principles: structure, autonomy and support.
Structured learning path
At the beginning of the program, you’ll receive a well-crafted learning plan and a list of resources. This path covers core Erlang concepts, syntax and real-world examples.
Bi-weekly virtual sessions
Every two weeks, you’ll have the option to join live virtual sessions hosted by senior Erlang engineers at Crafting Software. These aren’t formal lectures. They’re open, informal discussions where you can ask questions, get unstuck, share progress or just listen in as others navigate similar challenges.
Autonomous learning experience
We trust you to own your learning. As an experienced engineer, you’ve already developed the skills to learn independently. We’re simply here to support that journey, not micromanage it.
100% Free — no strings attached
This initiative costs nothing. There are no upsells, no recruitment pitches and no hidden commitments. We value building relationships, of course, but this is about community, not conversion.
What you'll walk away with
By the end of the 3 months, active participants can expect to:
Gain foundational proficiency in Erlang
Comfortably read, understand, and reason about Erlang codebases.
Write clear, simple Erlang applications independently.
Understand core Erlang concepts:
Grasp the basics of functional programming, concurrency, and fault-tolerance principles in Erlang.
Clearly understand the Erlang ecosystem, tooling, and best practices.
Be ready to contribute to Erlang projects:
Feel confident enough to start contributing meaningfully to existing Erlang codebases or small-scale projects.
Have sufficient knowledge to navigate further advanced learning or on-the-job Erlang challenges.
Develop a clear idea for further growth:
Clearly identify your next steps for continued skill development and professional growth with Erlang.
Know how and where to find further support, resources, and mentorship.
Participants who successfully complete the 3-month learning sessions may have the opportunity to join the Crafting Software team, depending on their interest and the opportunities available.
And most importantly: you’ll know where to find continued support, mentorship, and resources.
Ready to join us?
If you’re an experienced engineer with a spark of curiosity for Erlang and you value learning that respects your time, experience, and autonomy—we’d love to have you.
